We only have 35 of these-- they will go fast.
<p>
A lucky green clicky pen w/Neil's writing advice printed in silver, a tote bag, 18 postcards and a luggage tag. Everything a traveling writer needs to get around.
<p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiaQmf2Zi3-y12hJ8pWnFtn_O1GJdL6l3dbWr-QqOBVMIUQOJ11YugIP7XmQpjdorPf9PaBUeB7U-eLjqo8FgAVtIS0eF8VjIrUxphMsSM89Vvgh8BOcxYsBt65v242GL2snuOqrTOoPzz/s1600/GreenPen.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiaQmf2Zi3-y12hJ8pWnFtn_O1GJdL6l3dbWr-QqOBVMIUQOJ11YugIP7XmQpjdorPf9PaBUeB7U-eLjqo8FgAVtIS0eF8VjIrUxphMsSM89Vvgh8BOcxYsBt65v242GL2snuOqrTOoPzz/s320/GreenPen.JPG" width="320" height="320" /></a></div>

The luggage tag is hard recycled plastic to withstand all of the rigors of travel.
<p>
The tag features a quote from Neil:
<p>
"The world always seems brighter when you've just made something that wasn't there before..."

We would like to introduce you to our newest artist:
Paul Roman Martinez!
<p>
I did a little Q & A with PRM, and I will get a photo of him holding one of the beautiful poster prints later on this week when we visit his local comic shop, Arsenal Comics & Games, 2333 Michael Drive, in Newbury Park, CA....
<p>
<b>1. How did you come to work with Neil Gaiman? Did you know his work before this?<i></i></b>
<p>
It was the early 90s, and I was probably about 12 years old going to my local comic shop. Alongside Batman, Superman, and Swamp Thing, I found this crazy Sandman comic with even crazier covers. That was the first time I picked up anything by Gaiman, and I think he showed everyone what comic book storytellers were really capable of. To be doing any kind of project with him is definitely a dream come true, thanks to running into Cat at San Diego Comic Con this year. Although, even being at San Diego Comic Con with my own comic was already a dream come true. Oh no, my life has become a crazy Vertigo comic!
<p>
<b>2. How did you approach these Calendar illustrations to combine into one big piece? Are you formally trained as an artist? Process?<i></i></b>
<p>
The stories the illustrations are based on come from very unique worlds and have little crossover with each other, so I wanted elements to climb out of the stories as if they were published in the same book. Characters and objects bleed into the pages where they don’t necessarily belong. I have almost no formal art training and only a little graphic design training, but I’ve spent years working on my craft, and I’m constantly pushing myself to do better.
<p>
For the calendar, I began by reading the stories and drawing very rough sketches of what the illustrations could be. Then I reread them and made changes to my drawings to better match the writing. I approached these pieces in a very comic book way, meaning sketches first, line art, flat color, and then final color. And throughout the whole process, I kept looking for subtle ways to get the illustrations to overlap, constantly rereading the stories to make sure they really connected to the sources.
<p>
<p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjE4L2eCeksmr9pn7mVAgml-5pk9gTaH1ENuW8kHUkP6SmO4zwVOdVRTcx5mOyJra5wVAsgblZ4biZctmwllGzLEfddyY6LAklOC_HDYulY5BosXZ3-oYqdIwZ2qQEjuUEy_FDhWvZHbcxZ/s1600/CoTsmall.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjE4L2eCeksmr9pn7mVAgml-5pk9gTaH1ENuW8kHUkP6SmO4zwVOdVRTcx5mOyJra5wVAsgblZ4biZctmwllGzLEfddyY6LAklOC_HDYulY5BosXZ3-oYqdIwZ2qQEjuUEy_FDhWvZHbcxZ/s320/CoTsmall.jpg" width="240" height="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_VcVOOnPbtINl77-A78GQvO2_RGGptMUrTyjKZIKRGorz-oGTFDDg6dYjgufoVEFQjgPDnbtEfrBWJ8f9TrCQgESR5R8Kcf1rhhTNtVc_OwK5kzNUaxvBC9dMepekk_ZUsJ_Hm3yVKknb/s1600/Neil_Amato_DaguerreotypeSM.+jpeg.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_VcVOOnPbtINl77-A78GQvO2_RGGptMUrTyjKZIKRGorz-oGTFDDg6dYjgufoVEFQjgPDnbtEfrBWJ8f9TrCQgESR5R8Kcf1rhhTNtVc_OwK5kzNUaxvBC9dMepekk_ZUsJ_Hm3yVKknb/s320/Neil_Amato_DaguerreotypeSM.+jpeg.jpeg" width="240" height="320" /></a></div>

<p>
<b>3. Tell us which was your favorite month to illustrate and why?<i></i></b>
<p>
Looking once more at the illustrations, I can’t say any of them were my favorite. At some point in the process, I was staring at each one separately from the others just trying to find that magic element in the piece I was working on. For March, I love the blank stare of the woman holding the ship. Her eyes are so pale, they’re almost not there. <p>For October, I love the animals floating around the genie and the simple two-color scheme that helps put them in such an otherworldly place. For November, I love the contrast of the simply-colored fire on the black and purple sky. You can never tell one of your children you love them the most!
<p>
<b>4. Can you talk about your deck of cards you produced? <i></i></b>
<p>
Sure! Probably the biggest thing I learned during that process was how passionate the playing card collecting community is. They have a voracious appetite for new decks, and they have very strong opinions about what they want! I even submitted early concepts to some playing card collecting groups and got some serious feedback on how the cards should be designed. I don’t usually do that, but I’ve also never had a group that eager for a project before it even came out!
<p>To date, that was one of my most successful endeavors on Kickstarter, and it even sold out through my distributor several times. I had card distributors asking me to do reprints so they could sell the decks. But for me, I have to find a new challenge to revisit that world. I always have a few projects on my desk, so to spend time merely reprinting a deck for money doesn’t seem very exciting. The first series featured real aviators and airplanes from the golden age of aviation. I even got to speak with Charles Lindbergh’s daughter about the project, so it would be hard to top that!
<p>
<i>
**Cat's note: I somehow see a Neil card deck in our future...<b></b></i>
<p>
<b>5. What are you working on now? Future plans?<i></i></b>
<p>
Right now I’m working on five or six different projects at various levels of completion. My main work is always my ongoing graphic novel series, The Adventures of the 19XX. And while I work on that, I’m also producing artwork, shirts, messenger bags, and anything else I can think of to carry the art and story of the series right off of the page and into the third dimension. The story is set in the 1930s, between the wars, in a world where supernatural mixes with retrofuturistic machines, which gives me the best imagery to play with for any medium! In the next year, I’ll be releasing the fourth book in the series, and a new release always comes with another round of exciting challenges! The series is set to be six books long. So, for the foreseeable future, I will be spending a lot of time in the Dieselpunk 1930s.

Paul Roman Martinez self-publishes his own graphic novel series, The Adventures of the 19XX, and produces art linked with history, often from a time removed from our own. His goal is to tell stories through his art, his writing, and his graphic design, no matter what format or medium. <p>
My boss Neil Gaiman and I holed up in his Addams Family house while he did a big Twitter project, A CALENDAR OF TALES, with BlackBerry.
<p>
Neil sent out tweet prompt questions about the twelve months of the year and his followers answered with ideas. After poring over thousands of entries, he picked his favorites and then wrote twelve gem-quality stories, one for each month.
<p>
(my favorite? October!)
<p>
These stories were published in his last short story collection <b>TRIGGER WARNING</b>.

Writer's Kit #4 (plus another chance to win a signed-by-Neil bag & screening tickets)We had such fun with the first three Writer's Travel Kit, which quickly sold out, we designed a fourth set. We only have 200 of these-- they will go fast.
<p>
A lucky clicky pen w/Neil's writing advice printed in silver, a tote bag, 12 postcards and a new luggage tag. All the traveling writer needs to get around.

<p>
The tag features a quote from Neil:

The film title is THE GRAVE OF SAINT ORAN. Please consider backing Jim's Kickstarter <a href="https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/jimbatt/the-grave-of-saint-oran-a-neil-gaiman-animation/comments">HERE></a>!
<p>
Only a few days left to get in on this campaign, and we have sent Jim a few signed Neil prints, illustrated by maestro Michael Zulli.
<p>
I did a little interview with Jim, read on!
<p>
1. What inspired you to work with Neil? How did you meet?
<p>
I've been a long time admirer of Neil's work, since I first read Sandman really - which I first encountered at my university library. I would while away the hours between lectures, losing myself in the overlapping stories and strange yet familiar characters. Those books will always bring back memories of musty bookshelves, leather chairs and low voices of people arguing cartesian philosophy or swearing they really do understand postmodernism.
<p>
Years later, I was lucky enough to get to know Neil through both Kim Boekbinder and Amanda Palmer. I think we first met backstage at a gig, but would cross paths in various parts of the world fairly often, as our friendship circles overlapped in a big international art family.
<p>
Neil's writing, the deft way he weaves together our world with magic and myth, has been a big influence on me, so getting the chance to work with one of his stories is an amazing opportunity.
<p>
2. Why did you chose to illustrate IN RELIG ORAN?
<p>
I had finished of a long year of work, and was looking about for my next personal project. I'd had the poem stuck in my head for a while, something about the oddness of the story and the rhythm of it had caught hold. It's such a strange story - equal parts myth and history, philosophy and horror, I think of it as a kind of existential ghost story. But at the heart of it all, is the big question humanity has always faced - how much do we really understand about our place in the world? A question that is approached with both curiosity and fear, but never leaves us. It was that line "He will touch you, he will taste you, he will leave his words inside you - god is not what you imagine, nor is hell, and nor is heaven" that really made me want to explore the story further.
<p>
3. Do you think your work with Amanda on the brilliant WANT IT BACK will inform this film?
<p>
The WANT IT BACK video was very much a response to the chaotic energy of that song, and the creative process that Amanda and I have developed, incorporating both spontaneity and planning. The sheer madness of doing stopmotion video with live humans definitely made that video a unique beast all of it's own. Every stopmotion film I've worked on has brought it's own special brand of insanity with it, so I'm guessing The Grave of St Oran will do the same…
<p>
4. You reside in Melbourne, Australia. Is this where will you be filming THE GRAVE OF SAINT ORAN?
<p>
I've been splitting my time between Melbourne and New York for a while now, and I intend to shoot this project here in my Brooklyn studio this time around!
<p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj39UFKMQJnWrsgKIPy9cf4xVfbCkHq1-ze-O-ZibQ2XMt2Mdz3m_hpOkUkIac4tzmX07hzOAlUykoQ5SkxPAAHQFcbXjnDkOprjdmX-nFewAOZaqAU4NxkY3dViietp0ybAUso_JDaA6Dp/s1600/StOran-Poster-WebRes.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj39UFKMQJnWrsgKIPy9cf4xVfbCkHq1-ze-O-ZibQ2XMt2Mdz3m_hpOkUkIac4tzmX07hzOAlUykoQ5SkxPAAHQFcbXjnDkOprjdmX-nFewAOZaqAU4NxkY3dViietp0ybAUso_JDaA6Dp/s320/StOran-Poster-WebRes.jpg" /></a></div>
<p>
5. Do you have any other upcoming project are you especially excited about?
<p>
Over the last year or so, Jherek Bischoff and I have been working on series of videos to accompany his next album and its looking amazing. And I've been doing a lot of work with Kim Boekbinder and Molly Crabapple, creating illustrated political animations that touch on some really important topics. So keep an eye out for those!
<p>
6. If you could meet any of Neil's fictional characters, who would you like to have a conversation with?
<p>
Coraline is easily one of my favourite characters, but I suspect Hob Gadling would make for a very interesting evening of conversation over a few drinks. He likes to talk, and has seen a lot in his many years on this planet.
<p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieJZPu8eCPKe1HFjIJzuAAteLqU_bbBRINlNpOEQ3atbbXl3byLkVKWtZnZEPLyTh3k8QUaePdvLGi6Nxb9KugVxW-sohfrlMY4iM_mbeKan4kuUsgMb4tAYmgsXKrDOu1To5lgssjNWjB/s1600/st-oran-angles-kickstarter.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieJZPu8eCPKe1HFjIJzuAAteLqU_bbBRINlNpOEQ3atbbXl3byLkVKWtZnZEPLyTh3k8QUaePdvLGi6Nxb9KugVxW-sohfrlMY4iM_mbeKan4kuUsgMb4tAYmgsXKrDOu1To5lgssjNWjB/s320/st-oran-angles-kickstarter.jpg" /></a></div>
<p>
7. Who might play you in the movie version of your life?
<p>
Wait - I thought this WAS the movie version of my life?
<p>
8. How do you plan to promote this film? What is your best hope for where the film winds up?
<p>
Once the film is finished, we're hoping to get it into a few festivals. Obviously all of our backers will get their own private online screening, but we'd love to send it out into the world for some big screen love - it would be a dream to get into some of the top animation festivals like Annecy or Stuttgart!
<p>
9. Do you have someone in mind for the soundtrack for the film?
<p>
Yes! We're incredibly lucky to have musical maestro Jherek Bischoff onboard to score the film. Can't wait to see what he dreams up, his music is always so evocative.
<p>

That New York sensation, he of the Houdini, Pawnshop & ToeTag Riot comics fame-- Sean has created a little Neil Gaiman-- in the style of one of my all-time favorite artists: Charles Addams.

<p>
This is a from a Neil interview conducted in Oct 2006. by Jessa Crispin
<p>
Q: How did your interest in mythology start?
<p>
<b>A: I wish I had an origin story for you. When I was four, I was bitten by a radioactive myth.
<p>
I remember the first time I encountered Thor was definitely in comics, which left me interested and excited enough in Roger Lancelyn Green’s Tales of the Norsemen that I read it until it fell apart. Then I went out with my own money and bought Roger Lancelyn Green’s Tales of Egypt. Which I read a lot. I was a seven-year-old kid reading ancient Egyptian mythology for pleasure.

We only have 100 of these-- they will go fast.
<p>

<p>
A lucky clicky pen w/Neil's writing advice printed in silver, a tote bag, 12 postcards and a new luggage tag. All the traveling writer needs to get around.
<p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhILArycSkb-MmfP7NMTGEdkBpW3J-Pfb7K1lur-qLKlMLrE2r5LWNut3iYjMAnQW7NcxYb0a5k1N3JppIVp4aVbwzAP4-j5g3Id14ZFqr_ihjFouX2jHWMbgQRGaFbnvbMrRaF9YQCe7ox/s1600/pen.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhILArycSkb-MmfP7NMTGEdkBpW3J-Pfb7K1lur-qLKlMLrE2r5LWNut3iYjMAnQW7NcxYb0a5k1N3JppIVp4aVbwzAP4-j5g3Id14ZFqr_ihjFouX2jHWMbgQRGaFbnvbMrRaF9YQCe7ox/s320/pen.jpg" /></a></div>
<p>
The new luggage tag is hard recycled plastic to withstand all of the rigors of travel.
<p>
The tag features a quote from Neil:
<p>
"The world always seems brighter when you've just made something that wasn't there before..."
<p>

<p>
3 DREAM postcards, 3 WISH postcards, 3 HOPE postcards and 3 FIRE postcards. (or let me know in the memo, i'll make 12 of whatever you prefer) These are the newly reprinted HOPE cards, I went with Chris Riddell's original lighter-in-color version.
<p>
This lovely tote (made entirely out of recycled plastic bottles), will hold what you need to carry with you perfectly. The straps are reinforced, to carry everything from a change of clothes to your bowling ball. Silver ink on black, w/a protection dragon!

<p>
to further sweeten the deal, when Neil was in town, I asked him to sign 15 of the hundred bags in silver sharpie and I will send them in random orders. I thought it would be like the Willy Wonky golden ticket, and a nice thank-you to his readers.
<p>
TO BE CLEAR: they are not all signed, only one in fifteen have been signed!

<p>
this is what the lucky fifteen look like! There is actually a pretty good chance of getting a signed Neil bag for a steal.
<p>
We are packing ALL the kits up and throwing them in a big bin, so we will not know who gets the signed versions. Hope you will post your prizes on <a href=" https://www.facebook.com/Neverwear/"> the Neverwear Facebook page.</a>
<p>
(i also post discount codes over on that page- worth a visit)
<p>

a little update on the new DAVID MACK/NEIL GAIMAN print shipments.
<p>
We had pre-postaged/packed many of the tubes and now we are putting the prints in the tubes.
<p>
We had to hand-number, hand-stamp 4000 pieces-- they should all be at the post office by Monday morning Dec 14th. For orders made after the 15th Dec, we can't be sure that packages will arrive by Christmas, we shall try, but can't guarantee.
<p>
If you have been following our <a href="https://www.facebook.com/Neverwear/">Facebook page</a>, or our <a href="https://twitter.com/neverwear">twitter page</a>
you have seen many of the photos from Neil's visit here in LA.
<p> *whew-- a whirlwind! I even got him in front of the Breaking Bad RV which is parked on the Sony lot...
<p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCF8RqpoaQi4n4aXo-GFKYWHCNULYDCMK190vd4DGKS6xC-OH2VXipyDsEwlxr6mSKBMaCX25f8JzvWz9QOC01Ac0RKlx42KrE5qVDuSRec0L3Arz5v81wB8j4UKP3R8zEkJ8DdBUv6lu1/s1600/breakingBad.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCF8RqpoaQi4n4aXo-GFKYWHCNULYDCMK190vd4DGKS6xC-OH2VXipyDsEwlxr6mSKBMaCX25f8JzvWz9QOC01Ac0RKlx42KrE5qVDuSRec0L3Arz5v81wB8j4UKP3R8zEkJ8DdBUv6lu1/s400/breakingBad.jpg" /></a></div>
<p>
You will also have seen that I asked Neil to sneak sign a small amount of the DREAM prints and have slid them into the pile. You may just get one in your order.
<p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOlwVIgRcxSzjiqcEhrSELDDTCAjyTJiVhpcJ1LWUbtapvI2bXfuRJLvH0vLDE3BXyUHXtD7ajr3XDRxgWW9qC_liYupmHNm1XgllOxfJZBEhi4bpyIxstMGI1CV5Bc9ql4yJdVUKRXJcm/s1600/NG_Dream.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOlwVIgRcxSzjiqcEhrSELDDTCAjyTJiVhpcJ1LWUbtapvI2bXfuRJLvH0vLDE3BXyUHXtD7ajr3XDRxgWW9qC_liYupmHNm1XgllOxfJZBEhi4bpyIxstMGI1CV5Bc9ql4yJdVUKRXJcm/s320/NG_Dream.JPG" /></a></div>
<p>
The print bundles will separate on Monday at midnight PST, meaning no longer will you be able to buy one at 28$ and get the second for only $10 more dollars-
<p>
the Dream will become $28 and the Wish will become $38, so that's a nice savings if you want both...

<p>
A lucky clicky pen w/Neil's advice printed in silver, a tote bag, 12 postcards and a luggage tag. All the traveling writer needs to get around. <p>
4 WISH postcards, 4 HOPE postcards and 4 FIRE postcards. (or let me know, i'll make 12 of whatever you prefer) These are the newly reprinted HOPE cards, I went with Chris Riddell's original lighter-in-color version.
<p>
**(in other news, I am sending the reprints out to those who ordered, if yours doesn't show up soon, let me know! neverwear@gaiman.net)**
<p>
This lovely tote (made entirely out of recycled plastic bottles), will hold what you need to carry with you perfectly. The straps are reinforced, to carry everything from a change of clothes to your bowling ball. Silver ink on black, w/a protection dragon!
<p>
(it WILL fit the gorgeous ABSOLUTE SANDMAN #1, but sorry to report, that giant book does not come with the kit)
<p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqmyR7dRmX8jPlYyVxFVfqvuAg3lCqMfo1RklSM_peqp7vparYjwNlNRszaVYmSWNtzfJbM6RNXJFIs0KYqNDIiP5mLTRy0ehLBNW_jpCK2I_fmpGI5EfpXJlDyVSBoGc4kXGln-B_5bzt/s1600/bag1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqmyR7dRmX8jPlYyVxFVfqvuAg3lCqMfo1RklSM_peqp7vparYjwNlNRszaVYmSWNtzfJbM6RNXJFIs0KYqNDIiP5mLTRy0ehLBNW_jpCK2I_fmpGI5EfpXJlDyVSBoGc4kXGln-B_5bzt/s320/bag1.jpg" /></a></div>
<p>
The luggage tag is metal to withstand all of the rigors of travel. We've had them on our road crew suitcases for three years and they're still hanging on. Dream dangerously, team.
<p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6BcTY1DJN6ZxDx4feYpulEzemMKj9I2rrxwN5p-nqut8xk4qN3Xuya-SjqieGizTj527t8mHkHyVeXDBRRigZxBVWaI6LcgQGyyxZTZMn1V0k4DToxlkxGEA5y1hNFItAf12Dp98RUkin/s1600/IMG_8677.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6BcTY1DJN6ZxDx4feYpulEzemMKj9I2rrxwN5p-nqut8xk4qN3Xuya-SjqieGizTj527t8mHkHyVeXDBRRigZxBVWaI6LcgQGyyxZTZMn1V0k4DToxlkxGEA5y1hNFItAf12Dp98RUkin/s320/IMG_8677.jpg" /></a></div>
<p>
to further sweeten the deal, when I saw Neil at the Long Beach event, I asked him to sign 10 of the hundred bags in silver sharpie and I will send them in random orders. I thought it would be like the Willy Wonky golden ticket, and a nice thank-you to his readers. TO BE CLEAR: they are not all signed, only one in ten have been signed!

this is what the lucky ten look like! There is actually a pretty good chance of getting a signed Neil bag for a steal.

<p>
Am just back from ComicCon, where I was working to benefit Neil's Gaiman Foundation and the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund. I cut my weekend there short to get back to this--even missed the Game of Thrones panel (with a saved seat in Hall H)--:(
<p>
What a great visit it was, though, saw so many people and found a few amazing new artists to work with in Artist Alley-- stay tuned for these updates when I am finished with ship job, I'll do a photo post.
<p>

<p>
People are starting to post that their Hope prints are arriving, hurray! However, I am about 3/4 the way through and there are still unshipped orders...
<p>
When I posted the print, I tried to be very clear about the fact that it wasn't going to be on my doorstep until at least ten days after announcement, maybe more depending on holiday.
<p>They arrived 3-4 days ago to me. I had to number and stamp them all by hand, which takes a little chunk of time.
<p>
That's why we give the 30% pre-sale price, we are bargaining for your patience.
<p>
We have been shipping them as fast as possible with 3 full time employees.
Even so, we are definitely not Amazon. (how DO they do it?)
<p>
Please know we are very grateful to you- suffering a little Irish guilt over here.
<p>
Ok! back to the diamond mines. I'll leave you with a faux Thor that I followed until he smiled at me...

Am sitting surrounded by tubes and printing out labels from morning to night, my usual elves are out on tour and i will get some help in once the prints arrive, they are being born this week in Hollywood. The 4th of July holiday is going to add a little sparkling firecracker delay, but I'll be ready to ship upon arrival.

<p>
Today is a glorious day in the name of hope and love, #SCOTUS did a good good thing. Amazing, really. I am such a huge rambling fan of love in all its forms, I can't imagine being denied the luxury of shouting it to the world.
<p>
Plus it is miss Holly Gaiman's birthday and my own sweet Husband's as well!
<p>
A few weeks back, while I was in Europe on tour with the Black Keys, Neilhimself sent me a drawing that that clever linesman <a href="http://www.chrisriddell.co.uk"> Chris Riddell</a> came up with. I sat down to take it in fully and felt a little diamond tear form.
<p>
<blockquote>
"A world in which there are monsters, and ghosts, and things that want to steal your heart is a world in which there are angels, and dreams, and a world in which there is hope." -Neil Gaiman</blockquote>
<p>
Chris generously agreed to come up with a version painted in jewel tones, finishing the hope in pure gold. I couldn't be happier with the finished product.
<p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOEMqLhcaITROiHc6eYyW4zMF_VjQ0Ft2EZXHKvu4lJMjG_Id3nD7iTAraXFc6pYnMuJMYd8YqpClApw-NCOVIHGJeZIzewZqG25euZdoCw_S4vM6_gzQ-m3p-rCuekHFmsTFpWYGkqLIK/s1600/gaimanprintSMALLer.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOEMqLhcaITROiHc6eYyW4zMF_VjQ0Ft2EZXHKvu4lJMjG_Id3nD7iTAraXFc6pYnMuJMYd8YqpClApw-NCOVIHGJeZIzewZqG25euZdoCw_S4vM6_gzQ-m3p-rCuekHFmsTFpWYGkqLIK/s400/gaimanprintSMALLer.jpg" /></a></div>
<p>
Have you seen his work on the UK versions of Neil's GRAVEYARD BOOK & FORTUNATELY, THE MILK? He's a magician with a keen eye for the curvy humor of life. Plus he was just this June appointed the UK Children's Laureate..!
<p>
We are so honored, grateful and lucky to be collaborating with Chris.
<p>
I have sent the files to my printer here in Hollywood, who promises to do a brilliant job.
<p>
The prints will be 11" x 17" on a buttery creamy velvet stock and I am offering it at $25 for this June weekend. My printer says we should have them in about 8-10 business days, so please be aware this is a pre-sale. I will get them out as quickly as possible.
<p>
These prints will be sold unsigned. A limited edition run of 1500.
<p>
you can order it by <a href="http://neverwear.net/products/brand-new-chris-riddell-illustrates-neils-words-on-hope-limited-edition-print">CLICKING HERE.</a>
<p>
I will put the price up to $38.00 on Monday morning.
<p>
They will come to you in a super-sturdy tube made of recycled cardboard, which you can spray-paint silver and use as a robot arm.
<p>

<p>
A portion of the proceeds will benefit <a href="https://twitter.com/gaimanfnd"> The Gaiman Foundation</a> and <a href="http://www.cbldf.org"> The Comic Book Legal Defense Fund.</a> Thank you for your support, loves, as always.
<p>Kitty Cathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10678414418125790641noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1108605026398080209.post-54940946737636615502015-03-15T08:47:00.001-07:002015-03-15T08:47:22.829-07:00RIP Sir Terry, you smart/tart sweetheart....I was traveling in Florida doing research for an alligator script, when I saw the news that Mr. Prachett had passed on.
<p>
My first thoughts were for my boss, Neil- I knew he would have his spirit punctured by this.
<p>
My inbox filled instantly with requests from world wide news agents, to get Neil on this or that program, and we politely declined them all. He was not in any way ready to go public with his sorrow.
<p>
I send love and support to the family of this amazing man who was inspired so by THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS, a personal favorite of mine as well.
<p>

(St. Patrick heard voices in his head, as we all do from time to time) </p>
<p>for the next three days (until Wed 12:00 noon PST) two of our prints will be on a deep discount. Both will benefit Neil's GAIMAN FOUNDATION which deeply supports the artistic community, as well as helps preserve freedom of speech with organizations such as the mighty @CBLDF. </p>

<p>Neil and Amanda held a show in Tampa, Florida on Valentine's Day this year, 2015.</p>
<p>They asked me to help them with the show print.</p>
<p>We approached the mighty king of the drawn line, P. Craig Russell, to illustrate these mad modern lovers. It's a beautiful piece of heartache history, only available at the Tampa show and here.</p>
<p>They are sold unsigned at $40... for the next few days they will be $20 each.</p>
<p>(i did put up a $5 off code over on the Neverwear page-& on the blog-- do a little digging, if you want to save another fiver)</p>
<p>they measure a glorious 10" x 25" and are printed on a luscious recycled matte stock, my photo does it no justice, I actually inhaled when i first saw.</p>

<p>also the beautiful IN RELIG ORAN print will be reduced for the next few days, the unsigned version will be $15.00</p>
<p>From the brilliant imagination of Michael Zulli, a full-color rendering of Neil's poem IN RELIG ORAN.</p>
<p>Mr. Zulli is the remarkable artist behind The Wake, Sandman's final chapter.</p>
<p> This is a hand-numbered limited edition run of 750 prints. Print size 11" x 17". will have the official Neil Gaiman embossed stamp on the lower lefthand side.</p>
<p>Before he read the at-the-time unpublished poem in Chicago at C2E2, Neil told us a little story.</p>
<p>Inspired by a book of myths and legends of Scotland by Otta F. Swire, Neil wrote the poem about a doomed saint, IN RELIG ORAN.</p>
<p>After reading some of the stories in the Swire book, he took his dog, Cabal for a walk. </p>
<p>"Sometimes, when you walk, " he said, "your mind goes into rhythms.....I found myself walking to along to the beat of the line: When St. Columba landed at the island of Iona..." </p>
<p> It is a thought-provoking piece and one of Neil's most beautiful word paintings.</p>

ALL of the Wish prints have shipped and there are only a few late-last minute orders that will be arriving after tomorrow.
<P>
If you haven't seen yours, PLEASE let me know-- we really tried.
<p>
Things do go missing, though and we will help track down. We had one print reported damaged by postal devices and we already got him his new print, so there is customer service over here.
<p> (yeah, that's right, it's ME. haha.) We worked around the clock for 10 days straight, embossing and hand-numbering each one, and the post office runs, they were stuff of legend...
<p>
Thank you for the amazing turnout on this print, The Gaiman Foundation will be getting a healthy check and the world will see a glimmer of hope in these sometimes dark, difficult times.
<p>

I'll leave you with Neil's wonderful New Year words:
<p>
May your coming year
<p>
be filled with magic
<p>
and dreams
<p>
and good madness.
<p>
I hope you read
<p>
some fine books
<p>
and kiss someone who
<p>
thinks you are wonderful.
<p>
and don't forget
<p>
to make some art-
<p>
write or draw
<p>
or build or sing
<p>
or live
<p>
as only you can.
<p>
And I hope,
<p>
somewhere,
<p>
in the next year,
<p>
you surprise yourself.
<p>

<p>
I know.
<p>
i say that EVERY TIME.
<p>
your patience has meant a great deal to me while i have been on my various tours this summer.
Soundgarden took me around Europe & to Tel Aviv while the Black Keys took me to New York City & all points in between. I just finished an ear-splitting week of rehearsals with Slipknot here in Los Angeles and I flew yesterday to Minneapolis to re-join the Black Keys.
<p>(Truth be told, as much as I love a tour bus, it is getting tougher to leave…)
<p>
During all this, I have been working on the new Neverwear website and it's nearly ready.
<p>
Neil is in Europe on his very busy book tour.
<p>
In the meantime, we are celebrating <a href="http://allhallowsread.com"> All Hallow's Read</a>, the scary-book-giveaway holiday that Neil invented and shared with all the reading world.
<p>
The talented Kate Laird came up with this design, which we have made into stickers and bookmarks.

just a couple of things to say, as it seems the TimeLords are tricking me out of my share of the clock lately:
<p>
1. I just backed the Kickstarter by Allan Amato! It is a worthy use of your time and dollars, an important look into the secret world of artists. Names like Dave McKean, Jon Schnepp (omg, METALOCALYPSE!!), Kent Williams, Grant Morrison, Barron Storey and Neil Gaiman.
<p>
loads of delicious rewards for very little moneys. Please support and share the good word.

<p>
these are some of my favorite quotes on the project:
<p>
<blockquote>Amato creates faces like Donald Westlake creates prose: raw, biting and stark, with a sheen of cool.</blockquote>
-Thomas Jane
<p>
<blockquote>Allan Amato is a lot like a wizard: his photos take us places we’ve never been. This is particularly unsettling when you were the one in the photograph. </blockquote>
-Neil Gaiman
<p>
<blockquote>Allan’s photos are where science and magic overlap. </blockquote>
-David Mack
<p>
<blockquote>I can’t stand to look at myself unless I’ve been photographed by Allan Amato. His dazzling compositions and naked artistry are breathtaking. Plus, he makes me look thin. All right: thinner.</blockquote>
-Kevin Smith
